Butch Phelps is a songwriter, vocalist, guitar player, music teacher, and music lover who lives in Hell's Kitchen, New York City.
As an acclaimed singer/songwriter, Butch Phelps released the albums Elevaters in 2019, Heavy Pour in 2018, and Butch Phelps & The Buck Ups in 2012. Additionally, having drawn from his years teaching, Butch released an album of original children music under the name Mr. Butch called Play Sounds in 2014.
Butch has worked with producers Eric “Roscoe” Ambel (The Bottle Rockets, Nils Lofgren, The Yayhoos), Andy Chase (Fountains of Wayne, Smashing Pumpkins, Juliana Hatfield), Grammy winner Matthew Shane (Flight of the Conchords), and Tony and Grammy nominee Daniel Kluger (Broadway’s Oklahoma!).
Most recently, Butch has teamed up with Tony nominated actor, writer, producer Arian Moayed (Succession, The Humans, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) to create The Man in Red (2020), a Christmas radio story with accompanying music album.
Butch continues to write and perform with his bands and alongside New York City’s finest musicians.
